Prayer Group Overview
Our prayer theme today: Thanksgiving to God the Father
and Submission to the Divine Will
All the readings, chosen at random after a prayer to the Holy Spirit, are listed below. We will post each message in a separate post each day. An overview of the readings will be posted below. The full readings will be posted separately each day.
The Readings today:
- Bible: Acts 23: 12-30
Book of Truth:
- Money, and too much of it, corrupts the soul. (21 August, 2011)
- All during My childhood I knew Who I was (12 Dec. 2013)
Overview of the readings:
The Bible Reading from the Acts of the Apostles, describes a plot by the Jews to kill Paul. This is reminding us that there is a plot in our Church today to destroy it, from within. As in Paul’s case, all good priests will be seized and killed.
The second reading tells us of the violence and chastisements which we will have to face. Jesus tells us how satan will draw good people with promises of wealth and so draw them away from the Truth. He also tells us : “Once bare and naked, I will clothe you again, children, only this time it will be a cloak of armour designed to protect you from the wickedness of evil men.” (Perhaps this describes us as we are now – bare and naked ; and after the Warning we will be clothed again with a cloak of armour.) We will then have a different view of life and put love of our neighbour will be our goal, which shows our love for Jesus. We are told that we must share our wealth in order to gain the new kingdom. We need to be humble of mind, heart and soul.
The final reading tells us of the lengths God the Father went to, to save us. He sent the prophets, but they did not listen and they killed them. Then He sent His only Son Who, instead of Master, became the Servant. Jesus explains the knowledge of the extent of His mission that He had during childhood, and of the special graces His Mother had. But He tells us He didn’t know that He would be killed – neither did His Mother. This was kept from Him by the Father. In the last year of His Ministry, he realized it. Jesus explains, how during His great act of humility on the Cross, satan was deceived – he doubted that Jesus was the son of Man. This meant he had no-one left to deceive. This has led satan today in his last ditch effort to deceive as many souls as he can. Jesus assures us that he won’t win but he will deceive many souls and take them away from the Kingdom prepared for them.
